Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about FishMeBot, troubleshooting tips, and usage guidance.

Safety & Security

Is it safe to use the bot?

The bot is not reading memory of the game or somehow injecting into it or any other process, so you won't get banned just for launching and using FishMeBot. However, your behavior and actions while using the bot may lead to a ban.

  • Do not launch the bot for hours on end without breaks
  • Avoid super consistent timings and 24/7 activity
  • Make your behavior look natural and human-like
  • Always use common sense
  • If something feels wrong - take a break from using the bot

Troubleshooting

Bot is not casting the fishing spell

This is usually related to keybind configuration or keyboard layout issues. The bot imitates key presses rather than sending commands to the game for safety reasons.

  • Make sure the fishing spell is on your action bar
  • Verify the keybind in bot settings matches your action bar (default is T)
  • If you use multiple keyboard layouts, ensure the active layout contains the keybind character
  • The bot will 'press' the button, but if your layout uses different characters, the spell won't cast

Bot can't find the bobber

The bot uses computer vision to find the bobber, not memory reading or injection, which means visibility is crucial for proper detection.

  • Make sure the bobber is in the area of detection (adjustable in settings)
  • Enable the bounding box in settings for easier adjustment
  • If the bobber is hard to see (similar colors to environment, small size on screen, etc), the bot may have trouble finding it
  • Try fishing in areas with better contrast and clearer water

Incorrect bobber detection

Make sure that there are no obstacles (mobs, players, visual effects) covering the bobber. If some objects are moving significantly in the detection area, it may also cause issues with bobber detection.

Download & Installation

My browser or antivirus flags it as unsafe when downloading

This is expected because the exe files are not signed with a code signing certificate, and also it's not very common for antivirus software to see bots that interact with games. However, the bot is completely safe to use and doesn't contain any malware or viruses. If you want to be sure, you can upload the file to VirusTotal.com for scanning before running it.

SmartScreen or antivirus is not allowing me to run the bot

You can usually add an exception for the file in your antivirus or SmartScreen settings. If you are using Windows Defender SmartScreen, when the warning pops up, click on 'More info' and then 'Run anyway'. The software is provided as-is, so if you are not comfortable with adding exceptions, you can choose not to use the bot.

Features & Limitations

How can I make the bot run in the background or when the game is minimized?

The bot is designed to imitate human behavior as much as possible for safety reasons, so it requires the game window to be in the foreground and not minimized. There are no plans to add background or minimized mode in the future as it would significantly increase the risks.

Can I use multiple instances of the bot?

No, using multiple instances of the bot on one machine is not supported for the same reasons as above and is not planned for the future.
